To most people, the concern for losing weight starts with discomfort with ones own weight. This body weight includes muscle, bone, water and fat. Therefore, this excess weight should not always be attributed to excessive body fat. Some people have a lot of muscle and may be overweight without having extra fat.

People erroneously believe that weight is an indicator of obesity and the weighing scale says it all.
